Children's Ministry at Monte Sano United Methodist

Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry is for children from 3 years old to 6th Grade.  This ministry is an opportunity for our preschool and elementary aged children to grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ in a fun, creative environment.  We want each child to know they are loved and valuable.

SUNDAY MORNINGS
Sunday School begins at 10:00 am with music for the first fifteen minutes.

Children divide into their age level Sunday School classes for the rest of the Sunday School Hour.  They enjoy a time of fellowship, learning, and creativity during the Sunday School Hour.

Special Activities

Throughout the year, we have lots of special activities for kids!  These include our annual Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, special Christmas activities, Camp Outs, Water Days, kickball, and more. These events are fun for the whole family!

Children's Choirs
Making a joyful noise!

Monte Sano United Methodist has two children's choirs that teach children an appreciation for music. Both choirs practice for the first 15 minutes of the Sunday School hour.  They often share pieces of music they have been rehearsing in worship and occasionally join the adult Chancel Choir for special performances.

Cherub Choir

The Cherub Choir is for children First Grade and under and is led by Pat McMillion.  The Cherub Choir focuses on teaching children love singing by teaching them familiar children's songs that are age appropriate for our youngest children.

Caroler's Choir

The Caroler's Choir is for children in 2nd through 6th Grades and is led by Vivienne Atkins.  Our older children go deeper into learning about music, including learning parts, basic music reading, and performing some solos.

The Nursery
6 weeks through 3 year olds

Monte Sano UMC loves children, and we want to provide the best possible experience for families with young children.  The church nursery is for children 6 weeks to three years old.  You are, of course, welcome to keep your child with you in worship, but we offer the nursery as a place where your child can be loved and cared for while you worship.

When you visit the church nursery for the first time, you will be asked to fill out a “Nursery Visitor Form.” This form helps our wonderful nursery staff to offer the best possible care for your child.  It includes feeding instructions, contact information, and who your child can and cannot be released to.

For all children using the nursery, we ask that they come with a clearly marked diaper bag supplied with at least 2 diapers, change of clothes, and if needed, a filled bottle. Please be sure to clearly label your child’s diaper bag, bottle/sippy cup, and other special items.

For the health and safety of all, we kindly ask that children who have experienced the following in the past 24 hours not be brought to the nursery:

1.     Fever
2.     Vomiting or Diarrhea
3.     Persistent runny nose
4.     Persistent cough
5.     Open skin Infection
6.     Pink eye

Safe Sanctuaries
Our Child Protection Policy

Monte Sano United Methodist Church strives to provide the safest environment possible for children to learn and grow in.  The church and all volunteers follow a child protection policy that makes sure all children are well cared for. This includes background checks for all our volunteers.

If you would like to review the full Safe Sanctuaries Policy, it is available in the church office.
