Huntsville has a unique place in the history of space exploration. From the space race of the 1950's and 1960's to Marshall Space Flight Center, we owe much of our community's success to men and women who dreamed beyond the realm of what was once possible.
Every year in July, we take one Sunday to celebrate Lunar Communion. This celebration is remembrance of the brave astronauts who first stepped foot on the moon. One piece of history that is often not mentioned about this momentous event, is that the astronauts shared in Holy Communion as one of their very first acts upon landing on the lunar surface. The first food and drink shared on the moon was the bread and the cup. |
