Come Worship on the Mountain
For thousands of years, human beings have sought healing and God’s holy presence on mountain tops.  The history of our own mountain, Monte Sano, is steeped in stories of health and healing dating back to the 1800’s. We continue that tradition today in the life and ministry of Monte Sano United Methodist Church.  You are invited to join us as we seek to celebrate the healing light of Christ through prayer, love and service by becoming a part of our church family. We hope you find rest, rejuvenation, and a renewed sense of calling to go forth in love and service.  All are welcome to worship on the mountain.

January Sermon Series

Join us in January as we begin a new Sermon Series on families called, “Family Matters.”  In this series, we will be looking at the many different ways we define family in the church, the statuses we hold in relationships, and how we as the church have failed some important groups of people.

Family Matters starts January 8th, 2017

February 22: Light on the Mountain

Monte Sano United Methodist Church exists in a community of individuals who are dedicated and  selfless in their service to others.  This creates an atmosphere that enhances the quality of life for all people in Monte Sano and the larger Huntsville community.  The church annually gives special recognition to some of these people with its Light on the Mountain Awards.  These awards are not limited to the members of Monte Sano UMC or even the residents of Monte Sano, but, instead they honor any individual or group who is a special ‘light’ in our community.

The awards coincide with a live and silent auction.  Donations for the auction are welcome.

Nominations are considered in the following categories and must be received by January 23:

Lifetime Achievement to an individuals who, over a period of many years, has contributed significantly in many ways to the community.

Newcomer to and individual who has beena part of our community for 5 years or less, but in that time, has made an outstanding contribution to the community.

Visionary to the individual who, through their uniquevision and leadership, has led the community.

Youth to an individual who is under 30 years of age and has provided exceptional leadership or community service.

Inspirational Leader to an individual who, through lifestyle and interactions, inspires our community in a positive manner and is a role model to others.

Columbarium Information

The vision of Monte Sano UMC is to celebrate healing light of Christ in our community.  This vision extends from birth through death, and as such we have initiated a project to create a final resting place for our brothers and sisters on our beautiful church property.  This space will consist of a memorial garden and columbarium for the internment of ashes, designed to complement our building architecture and provide a beautiful space for peace and tranquility. Wall plaques will also be available for memorializing loved ones who are interred in other locations. Cremation and scattering or internment of ashes is sanctioned by the United Methodist Church, and is significantly more cost effective than in-ground burial.
