John Mullaney was appointed to be the pastor of Monte Sano United Methodist Church in June of 2016. John has served as a pastor in the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church since June of 2004, after graduating from The Candler School of Theology at Emory University. His undergraduate degree is from the College of Charleston (B.S. Psychology).
John’s passions include preaching, pastoral care, and the development of holistic systems that help individuals grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and human beings.
John grew up all over the Southeast, including time living in Texas, Florida,Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, and Georgia. Home for him is where ever his family is! John is married to his wife, Rev. Denise Mullaney, and they have two amazing daughters.
John’s hobbies include woodwork, cooking, reading, and enjoying the beauty of Monte Sano!

Cindy Mull joined our staff in December of 2012 as the bookkeeper/secretary. She has a business degree and has had many years of experience (as well as certification classes) as a Church Business Administrator.
Cindy currently lives in New Market, Alabama with her husband Bill and their two dogs and many cats (some were invited, some not-so-much). Her beautiful 1875 farmhouse, with original doors, ceilings, and wood flooring can be yours for a reasonable price! Cindy and Bill hope to spend his retirement in a small bungalow in town. Which town is the question!
Cindy’s hobbies include reading Homer Hickam novels (a mention that she hopes will get her the “friends and family” discount), murder mysteries, and fiction of many genres. Cindy has previously owned an embroidery business, and continues to use her creative brain cells in embroidery design and crafts.

Age Level Ministries:
Director of Children’s Ministries
Marijo Braddy began her position as Children’s Ministry Director in 2016. She has been a life-long member of Monte Sano UMC, having been confirmed into the church at the age of 12. Over the years, Marijo has served in a variety of roles, including Lay Leadership, Sunday school teacher, and youth assistant.
Director of Youth Ministries
Joshua Williams has been serving as Youth Director at Monte Sano United Methodist Church since June of 2014. He graduated from Samford University in 2006 with a bachelor’s in Physics. While in college, Joshua served as a mentor to At-Risk Youth, including a position as youth director of an inner city church in Birmingham, AL. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Army Infantry, where he served in various leadership capacities during his 5 years of service, including two tours to Iraq.
As a veteran, he has returned to Iraq multiple times in humanitarian efforts; working with children, youth, and refugees in the region. Joshua has designed, organized, and implemented youth camps empowering Christian leadership in the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq. Joshua is now serving as Veteran Consultant with Turning Point Consultants, LLC as a leader in community identity development. He currently mentors fellow veterans and young persons in initiation along the Hero/Heroine’s journey through narrative and interactive therapies and spiritual modalities for change.
Since returning to Monte Sano mountain as a permanent resident, Joshua has a passion for youth and empowering leadership development. He practices radical inclusivity to empower courage and creativity in our young people enabling them to identify the spiritual tools that exist within themselves to be the change they want to see in their community.

Traditional Worship Director and Pianist
Vivienne Webb Atkins is the Music Director for the Traditional Worship Service. She conducts the choir, works with special music presentations, writes and directs liturgies.
Vivienne is retired from Huntsville City Schools where she developed an award-winning choral program which had a superb regional reputation. She also acted as Coordinator of the Arts Magnet Program at Lee High School, taught theatre and tech theatre, and directed the musicals for Lee Lyric Theatre
Vivienne is also the Founder and Artistic Director of Independent Musical Productions, a regional theater specializing in Broadway-style musical productions. She has served churches in Scottsboro, Huntsville, and Fayetteville, Tennessee. She is an advocate for arts education and has begun an arts program in New Hope, Alabama with the establishment of musical productions in the elementary-middle school, and a show choir at the high school. Vivienne is active in many community arts organizations and is a multiple winner of the Huntsville Arts Council Wings Award for Best Director and Best Production for IMP productions. Other awards include North Alabama Music Educator of the Year, the Arts Administrator of the Year from the Alabama String Teachers’ Association, Oakwood University Arts Achievement Award, WEDC Contribution to the Humanities Award, and the prestigious Virginia Hamill Simms Award for her contribution to the arts. She also served as President of the Alabama Vocal Association and director / developer of the Alabama All-State Show Choir.
Married to Ken Atkins, Vivienne is the mother of Raney Simpson and Charla Smith, and the grandmother of 6 grandchildren (also 5 dogs and a cat!).

Contemporary Worship Director
Andrew Zollar became worship leader for Monte Sano United Methodist Church in May of 2016. Andrew is an electrical engineer supporting AMRDEC on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. He graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and earned his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in December.
Andrew is very passionate about music. He has been playing and singing since he was 4 years old. He first learned to play the piano and violin from his mother. In elementary school, he began playing the trumpet. Throughout high school and college, he picked up the guitar, bass, and the drums.
Andrew was born in Athens, Alabama and raised here in Huntsville. He is engaged to his childhood sweetheart and will be married in May of 2017.
Aside from music, Andrew’s hobbies include exercising, fixing things around the house, watching Netflix, traveling, and even some gaming.
